When discussing Morgellons Disease, contagiousness of the condition remains the biggest debate. This argument is partially fueled by the wide ranging opinions regarding the causes of Morgellons. Some research experts believe that Morgellons Disease is caused by environmental toxicity that causes unwanted changes in the structure of human cells.
Some health experts believe that Morgellons Disease is essentially a case of parasitic delusion where an individual is obsessed about the imaginary presence of parasites within the body. Since both these conditions are specific to an individual, they cannot be contagious. Morgellons Disease is also believed to be a kind of Lyme infection, i.e. a condition that is caused by a parasitic organism that is yet to be confirmed. Further, the family members of patients who have been diagnosed with Morgellons Disease show little symptoms in terms of suffering from similar symptoms. The absence of symptoms among those in close contact with Morgellons patients supports the theory that this condition cannot be communicated from one individual to another.
However, some experts believe that Morgellons is caused by GMO or Genetically Modified Organisms that have been mistakenly or intentionally released into our environment by secret government authorities. If this view is accepted, Morgellons might present some degree of contagiousness, but largely most healthcare experts who have handled Morgellons patients opine that this is essentially a psychological condition that has no known infecting organism and hence, it is not contagious.
